postcards from guatamala

When we set out for Guatemala, I had every moment planned to perfection, or so I thought. But life, with its unpredictable charm, had other plans.

Just about everything was thrown into disarray when, within the first hour, a volcano erupted, compelling us to evacuate the very spot I had meticulously chosen for our retreat. It was a stark reminder that despite our best-laid plans, nature has a way of asserting its own.

Yet, amidst the chaos, something extraordinary happened. The magic I had envisioned wasn't tied to the picturesque location or the carefully curated aesthetic; it was rooted in the incredible women who showed up. By hour two, amidst the uncertainty and shared adrenaline, we transformed from strangers to best friends. And by the end of day three, there was no denying it—we had become sisters. It might sound like a cliché, but the truth often is.

The bond that formed among us was unlike anything I've ever seen. Women from diverse backgrounds, each with her own story, came together, unguarded and open. From the very first day, there was an unspoken agreement to show up authentically, allowing vulnerability to be our strength. This set the stage for profound growth and deep connections that I believe could only have happened under such unique circumstances.

As we navigated the unexpected together, we discovered the power of adaptability, the strength in unity, and the beauty of embracing the moment. Guatemala, with its breathtaking landscapes and the unexpected adventure it threw our way, expanded our hearts in ways we couldn't have imagined. We left the retreat not just with memories, but with a newfound understanding of ourselves and each other. The doubts, the rush, the pressures we had placed on ourselves seemed trivial in retrospect.

Guatemala, in all its majestic and unpredictable glory, was the backdrop to our transformation. It tied us together for life, not just through the experiences we shared but through the collective realization that when women come together with open hearts, incredible things happen. We left changed, all of us, forever bound by the magic of those few days when a volcano eruption became the least interesting part of our journey..
